David Lloyd Leisure is the leading racquets, health and fitness club group with 88 clubs across the UK and Europe and over 450,000 members.

Scott Lloyd

Chief Executive Officer

After graduating from Bristol University, having studied Economics and Accountancy, Scott worked for Societe Generale Investment Bank and RSM Robson Rhodes accountancy firm.

From there Scott began his career by launching the Next Generation Clubs in 1997, after he identified a substantial gap in the market for premium, large scale, family-orientated leisure facilities; including pioneering the concept of kids gyms and activity programmes.

Scott then took a key role in the acquisition of David Lloyd Leisure by London & Regional Properties and HBOS from Whitbread. This deal was completed in August 2007 and he remains the CEO of the integrated businesses.

Scott has also been appointed to the Board of the Fitness Industry Association.

Nick Backhouse

Managing Director

Nick Backhouse, joined David Lloyd Leisure in February 2008 as Chief Operating Officer and was promoted to Managing Director and Deputy Chief Executive Officer in August 2009.

He was previously on the Board of National Car Parks which, following a period of rapid growth in the business, was sold to Macquarie. Prior to NCP, Nick was on the Board of The Laurel Pub Company, one of the ten largest buy-outs in the UK, and before that was Chief Financial Officer of Freeserve plc, the internet service provider, which he joined not long after it launched and saw through to its successful flotation and entry into the FTSE 100 and eventual sale to France Telecom.

He began his career in management consultancy with Coopers & Lybrand before joining Barings Brothers, where he worked in London and New York, ultimately becoming a Managing Director and being responsible for Private Equity coverage.

He is a Non-Executive Director of the Guardian Media Group plc where he is Chairman of the Audit Committee and is married with three children.

Ian Harris

Finance Director

Ian Harris joined David Lloyd Leisure in November 2007 as Group Finance Director.

Ian has more than 20 years of finance and accounting experience within the profession and as a Finance Director for both publicly quoted and private equity backed businesses including Jessops plc, RAC and Welcome Break.

His career began at Coopers & Lybrand where he qualified as a chartered accountant in London before transferring to their Paris office for a two year secondment. On his return, Ian became a senior manager in the Corporate Finance division.

Ian is a keen runner and has been a member of David Lloyd for over ten years. He is married with three children.

Paul Guyer

Group Property Director

Paul Guyer joined David Lloyd Leisure in February 2008 as Group Property Director.

He was previously Group Property Director for Esporta Health and Fitness, where he was instrumental in the sale of the non core European Estate and selected UK clubs as well as establishing a UK racquets club development pipeline.

Paul is a qualified Chartered Surveyor and his career prior to Esporta has been split equally between other operational roles including Head of Acquisitions at Odeon Cinemas (Rank Group PLC) and working in private practice for companies such as Savills Chartered Surveyors and Fletcher King Plc.

Paul is married with two children, he is a keen triathlete and enjoys skiing and sailing when time prevails.
