DAVID LLOYD LEISURE ONCE AGAIN NAMED AS ONE OF THE UK’S TOP 25 BIG COMPANIES TO WORK FOR IN THE UK
Europe’s leading health and fitness group comes in at number 16th in table.
David Lloyd Leisure, Europe’s leading health and racquets group has been named in the Sunday Times’ Top 25 Best Companies to work for in the UK for the second year running. The company, which has 98 clubs in the UK and employs around 8100, climbed five places to number 16 on the table.
Best Companies surveys randomly selected team members across the business, asking for their views and opinions about their employers, working environment and culture. So it is the staff themselves that determine the ranking on the list, reflecting how valued and engaged they feel to be part of the David Lloyd Leisure team.
The accreditation comes on the back of year of unprecedented growth and investment for the business, during which it acquired 14 UK health and racquets clubs from Virgin Active as well as opened its third Harbour Club at Kensington following a £5.5m investment and redevelopment programme. It also announced that it had bought a further four clubs - the Park Club in Chiswick, London, the Academy Club in Harrogate, Malaspina Health and Racquets Club in Milan and in January 2018 it announced it had exchanged contracts to acquire City Green Health and Sporting Club near Geneva.
At the same time the business has undergone a cultural transformation, to re-energise the business and empower and engage clubs to deliver an exceptional level of member experience.
Glenn Earlam, David Lloyd Leisure CEO commented; “I’m very proud that we have once again been named as one of the best big companies to work for in the UK.
We want to create a fun and friendly atmosphere in our clubs, and so I’m delighted to hear that our teams are genuinely passionate about what they do and really enjoy their time at work.
2017 was an exceptional year for growth and change in the business, and I want to thank all of our team for the part they played in making it such a success.”
